With all the awesome additions, it’s not surprising SFI enjoyed a great year in 2010. SFI welcomed nearly 300,000 new affiliates and TripleClicks members from all around the world, exponentially expanded the product offerings. Great new commissionable opportunities and program enhancements were added and 2011 will, no doubt, be even bigger.
In fact, many of 2010′s accomplishments are simply the foundations for even more powerful improvements in 2011. Yes, SFI is continually building, building, building. One piece at a time. Building the most powerful program of its kind in the world!

And some MAJOR new additions to the family are coming too. SFI can’t share any details today, but they could be as big as anything SFI has ever done…so stay tuned…and GET READY for the opportunities that are on the way.

The “secret sauce”…the reason SFI continues to grow…the reason SFI is now in it’s 12th successful year…the reason tens of thousands of would-be competitors have come and gone over the years while SFI continues to flourish…is because of YOU, the affiliates. Are you finally getting around to getting a website set up for your company? Or, are you ready to have your existing website redesigned because you’re unhappy with the way it looks or performs?
If so, you’ll want the new website to be successful. In fact, as more and more business and consumers research and make purchases online, a successful website is critical to the success of your business. So, what can you do to make the new website successful? And how can you build a successful website on a small business budget?
Here are twelve secrets to website success. I know they work because I’ve used them to build BusinessKnowHow.com into a website that reaches 2.5 to 3 million unique individuals a year. And, I’ve done it the way most of you build your businesses – on my own nickel.
- Have specific goals for your website.
- Know your customer or site visitors and what they want to get out of your site.
- Have pages dedicated to specific items or subjects the customer or site visitor is looking for.
- Don’t make the home page of your site a “flash” animation. Web visitors routinely skip those animations (or just leave) because they aren’t interested in pretty graphics. They want facts. If you’re going to use flash to demonstrate your product (or a video) let people choose to view it, don’t force them to.
- Make it easy for visitors to find what they want. Use a simple navigation structure, and if you absolutely must use drop down menus, make sure visitors can actually click on the links without the drop down rolling up before the person hits the link they want.
- If you’re selling products, have category pages plus individual pages for each type of product. (For example, if you are selling jewelry, have one page for earrings with links to individual pages for different types of earrings, such as diamond earrings, ruby earrings, pearl earrings, etc.)
- Pay attention to search engine optimization (SEO) in setting up pages. The more closely the page title, page description, and keywords match what someone would search for, the more likely they’ll find the website, and the more likely they’ll buy whatever product is advertised on the page.
- Have a means for legally and ethically capturing visitors’ email addresses so you can contact them in the future.
- Plan to advertise and market your site on an ongoing basis through all methods available to you.
- Track and measure traffic, bounce rates, sales conversions and progress.
- Ask for feedback from site visitors.
- Stay in contact with site visitors (those who gave you their email addresses) on a regular basis so they remember to come back to your website.

22Back-linking can increase traffic
Filed in: Affiliate Marketing, SFI Tips, SFI Training by admin on 01-22-11Participating in forums and leaving your SFI Gateway(s) as part of your signature block can be a good way to increase traffic to your Website.
However, the point with this method is not to sell or recruit a great deal from these links. The real benefit comes from increasing back-links to your Website, and that means your page will rank higher in generic search engine results because of it—and THAT could mean bigger profits and more prospective team members for you!
You’ll need an original Website (a blog can do), NOT an affiliate URL to use this method; or, you could simple use a free URL masking service. An effective, fast way to get thousands of forum back-links is to find forum members who have thousands of posts and nothing in their signature. Offer them a fee ($20 to $50 a month maybe) to place your ad and link. Almost overnight, you could have THOUSANDS of backlinks!

22Getting non-responsive affiliates to respond to you
Filed in: SFI Tips, SFI Training by admin on 01-22-11One reason behind non-responsive affiliates could be the powerful spam catchers used by most ISPs. Your Welcome Letter or other e-mails may not be getting through to their intended recipients as a result. (AOL is notorious for preventing ordinary e-mails from getting through, clumping them in with spam.)
Try taking URLs out of the body of your e-mail and put them into an e-mail attachment. When I did that, I was able to get more e-mails through. Another way is to disguise the URL by replacing the punctuation with words, so that the filter cannot recognize it as a Website address and mistake it for spam. For example:
http(colon)//www(dot)name of site(dot)com
This works so long as you explain to your recipient the reason why you have to do this—without using the word “spam”!
One more thing. Lack of response from new Affiliates may just mean more persistence on our part is needed to “woo” them. Keep in touch, e-mailing about once every week or two with an easy-going, upbeat e-mail. Let them know how excited you are to have them on your team, and include a tip about where to find something on the SFI Affiliate site, how to post a classified ad, or some other helpful marketing strategy that has worked for you.
As your new affiliates sense you are serious about helping them get started, they will be much more likely to become serious about taking action as an SFI Affiliate.

22How to help your new affiliates get started right
Filed in: Affiliate Marketing, SFI Tips, SFI Training by admin on 01-22-11I have no secret to success, and I am willing to share my methods with anyone…One thing I have come to learn pretty quickly is that what you put in your welcome message can make a HUGE difference.
My welcome message is short and sweet. I introduce myself as the new affiliate’s sponsor, include a link to the SFI Getting Started page and, most importantly, my e-mail address, and ask the affiliate to contact me. I have found that about one in 20 will reply to me with an e-mail. Once the affiliate actually gets in touch, I don’t mention anything about upgrading. Instead, I build a relationship with my affiliates by passing along various important links and working with them to get started right. I also occassionally offer a gift certificate as an incentive to take action.
I feel that working with my affiliates and helping them get started is more important than worrying about whether they are going to upgrade. Once they get started and find out more about SFI, they see the benefits for themselves and often decide to upgrade on their own.
If you are getting no repsonse from your current affiliates, you may want to change your stategies. Take a good look at your welcome message, change your priorities, and concentrate on helping your people get started. Also, join some advertising sites so you can offer your affiliates places to start advertising right away. Remember, many people who join have no experience with anything like SFI, and tips for ad resources, etc. will be very appreciated.
